A newlywed man is being held on a murder charge Wednesday after his pregnant wife staggered into a western Arkansas police station with a stab wound to her chest and collapsed.

Emergency responders rushed Celestia Duffin, who was nearly seven months pregnant, to a local hospital where doctors delivered her baby, though they were too late and both she and her son died.

 

Terrifying details of a Florida killing spree, which left three people dead and two with shocking injuries in February, were released to the public for the first time yesterday.

William De Jesus, a 41-year-old Floridian with a history of mental illness, shot and killed a 76-year-old man at a Deerfield Beach trailer park on February 9 - sparking a hostage stand-off with police that ended in a frenzied knife attack on his wife and two young sons.

At one point he allegedly asked his wife which son she wanted him to kill first. He also told both boys that he had to kill them, otherwise they would be cut up and eaten by police officers.

Nine-year-old Jeshiah De Jesus - who suffered from severe autism and could not speak - died after being stabbed eight times in the thigh, chest and back. William De Jesus also died from six self-inflicted stab wounds to the chest.

 A man filmed a group of girls attacking a 12-year-old girl in his neighbor's garden, and told Providence, Rhode Island, police he thought it was a prank.

Two of the girls have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, and two others have been charged with simple assault and conspiracy

The 12-year-old suffered two black eyes, a bruised nose and bite marks on her hands. Holly Gingerella, the girl's mother, said, "My daughter is doing OK. She doesn't look very good, but she's a strong child." She said her daughter has a shunt in her brain to aid with a medical problem, but the shunt was not damaged in the assault.

The man posted the video of the incident on YouTube, where he shows his face to the camera and describes the attack, "Kids are (expletive) sitting outside for like 20 minutes saying, 'Don't do this, don't do that. You gotta keep going, you gotta keep fighting.' They're like planning it so they can just record it." While he speaks, girls can be heard shouting in the background

Gingerella said the leader of the girls invited her daughter to spend Friday night at her house 

"My daughter said everything turned bad in about 10 minutes. She was attacked and they wouldn't stop. She got up and ran. Then they attacked her on the pavement. Nobody interfered. Not even the man who videoed it."

 

Anchorage police announced Monday evening that a body believed to be that of missing barista Samantha Koenig was found during a crime-scene investigation in Matanuska Lake, apparently ending a months-long mystery that has gripped the city and attracted national coverage.

In a joint appearance with FBI officials at APD headquarters, APD Chief Mark Mew said divers discovered the body Monday morning during an investigation at the lake. The search drew numerous members of APD, the Alaska State Troopers and FBI to the scene, which lies off the Glenn Highway near the Palmer-Wasilla Highway interchange and the Matanuska-Susitna Regional Hospital. State medical examiners will verify the identity of the body.

While Mew, speaking in prepared remarks to local media, said officials' silence had made informing the public difficult, he deemed it necessary to the investigation.

"I can only reiterate and again assure you our joint decisions to not release more information were driven exclusively by our desire to maximize the potential for Samantha Koenig's safe return," Mew said. "Unfortunately, that potential no longer exists."

According to Mew, APD believes Koenig was murdered soon after her disappearance, and that charges in her abduction and murder were forthcoming.

"Investigators believe Samantha died within hours of her abduction, and we are continuing to investigate these facts," Mew said. "Investigators further believe the person responsible for Samantha's death acted alone, and we are confident that we have that person in custody."

Koenig had not been seen since the night of Feb. 1, when APD says surveillance video from Common Grounds Espresso shows Koenig being abducted by an armed man. At several points in the investigation, officials said that they had been proceeding under the assumption that Koenig was still alive.

Prior to Monday’s crime-scene investigation, the last major breaks in the case were related to the March arrest in Lufkin, Texas of 34-year-old Israel Keyes, described by APD as “the main player” in the Koenig case, on a federal access-device fraud charge.

Keyes is accused of using a debit card taken from a man’s vehicle on the night of Koenig’s abduction at locations across Anchorage, as well as in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas prior to his arrest. He is being held at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, after U.S. Marshals transferred him from Texas.

Late Friday night, FBI and APD officials seized a large shed from the Turnagain home on Spurr Lane where Keyes lived, which was subsequently taken to the FBI’s Alaska headquarters in Downtown Anchorage for examination over the weekend.

Mary Rook, special agent in charge of the FBI's Anchorage Division, said investigators believed there was no connection between the abductor and the Koenig family. She credited callers ans officials who provided information in the case from Alaska, as well as the Lower 48, for their role in the investigation.

"We received hundreds of phone calls from people in Anchorage and from many locations across the Lower 48," Rook said. "Likewise, when assistance was required in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, local, state and federal authorities moved quickly to support and move this investigation forward. In fact, were it not for the efforts of several very alert and dedicated Texas law enforcement officers, Samantha's abductor may still be at large."

Investigators had been at the lake since mid-morning Monday, where FBI spokesperson Darrin Jones confirmed that authorities were conducting an investigation that was related to Koenig’s Feb. 1 abduction.

Access to the lake was blocked off, but several undercover APD vehicles and the department's Major Crime Scene Unit van were present. A wide area was roped off with crime-scene tape, and several marker cones had been placed on the ground.

At Monday's press conference, Rook again asked the community for further information relating to a white Chevrolet pickup truck Keyes drove as part of his business, Keyes Construction, as well as tips from anybody who helped Keyes remove a large utility rack from the vehicle or saw it in the vicinity of Common Grounds Espresso on Feb. 1.

"We would like to reiterate our request for information relative to the movement of the white pickup truck," Rook said. "Specifically, we want to hear from anyone who may have seen the truck in the vicinity of Matanuska Lake."

A judge has handed down prison sentences of between four and six years to four young men charged with attempting to kill a man at a Berlin metro station earlier this year ...

 A suburban St. Louis woman who claimed her 13-month-old son had vanished from his crib was charged Wednesday with murdering him, after prosecutors say she admitted beating him because he wouldn't stop crying.

Shelby Dasher, 20, was arrested less than 16 hours after she reported her son, Tyler, was missing. People walking their dog found Tyler Dasher's body on Tuesday near a cemetery about a mile from his home.

St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch said Dasher admitted to police that she repeatedly hit her son because he was crying and "wouldn't lay down, wouldn't go back to sleep." He said she also told police she disposed of her son's body.

"Raising children can be frustrating. There are a myriad of ways to handle that," McCulloch said. "This isn't one of them."

McCulloch revealed little else about the boy's death, except to say it appeared he hadn't been struck with objects or weapons. Read more;

This mostly white town in mostly white Rankin County is about a 30-minute drive from Jackson, Mississippi. It's here in Brandon that some residents say a gang of teenagers expressed their strong racial prejudice -- sometimes through violence.

These residents say the teens were friends with and often led by Deryl Dedmon, now 19 and facing capital murder and hate crime charges for the killing of James Anderson, a black man, who died after he was beaten and run over by a truck in Jackson, according to police. 

Parents and students who knew Dedmon tell CNN it was widely known that he expressed a hatred for blacks, white people who had black friends, and anyone he thought was gay. And they say he had a history of harassing teens at his high school.

CNN has learned that Department of Justice investigators have uncovered two other possible incidents where groups of white Rankin County teens, including Dedmon, have sought out and attacked a black person.

Jordan Richardson, 17, says he was bullied, beaten and harassed by Dedmon and his friends two years ago, partly because he had black friends.

After numerous run-ins at school, Jordan's father called police after a particularly violent confrontation, and the police separated the boys.

ut police and school officials told CNN that there were no warning signs, no concerns about Dedmon or his friends before James Anderson's death this summer. Brandon's Assistant Police Chief Chris Butts described Anderson's killing as "an isolated incident" that has been blown out of proportion by the media.

 

A pair of female Chicago Public High School students violently assaulted a fellow female student during class last week while at least four other students stood by and the teacher looked on in shock.

"They got angry and went ghetto on her," the victim's best friend, a freshman at the school, told NBC Chicago on Wednesday. "Every day there's a fight. Today there was a fight in algebra."

The attack, which was caught on tape, took place during a biology class last Thursday at Roger C. Sullivan High School, at 6631 North Bosworth Avenue.

In the video, 14-year-old Jillian Salgado struggled to fend off her two attackers. A fourth woman appears to make an attempt to break up the fight before backing away. At one point, the assailants appear to slam the victim's head off a table.

 

Last night was a bloody one for the city of Chicago. At least three people are dead and over a dozen others have been wounded in separate shootings during an intense 13 hours Friday night into early Saturday. Above, police officers respond to the shooting of a 14-year-old boy.

 

The body was discovered late Sunday afternoon behind the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob Church in rural Somerset County. Members of the congregation had been back in the woods and unexpectedly found the body, police said.

On September 7, the search for Alice Davis took an unexpected turn when authorities found her husband dead of an apparent suicide inside their home.

"He died from what appears to be self-inflicted razor wounds to his left arm -- he severed his artery,"Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis told The Huffington Post last week.

A teenager who allegedly raped a 14-year-old boy and kept him as his personal slave has shown no remorse for his actions, a children's court has heard.

The 15-year-old yesterday faced charges of rape, indecent assault of a person under 16, making threats to kill, making threats to inflict serious injury, false imprisonment and assault.

Police opposed bail for the teen, who can't be named for legal reasons, telling the court he was a bully who had no remorse for his actions.

In denying bail, a magistrate described the allegations as one of the most disturbing scenarios he had heard.

Jessica Beagley  of Anchorage Alaska, was convicted Tuesday of misdemeanor child abuse after squirting hot sauce into the mouth of her adopted Russian son as punishment in what prosecutors said was a ploy to get on the "Dr. Phil" TV show.

Prosecutors also said defendant Jessica Beagley, 36, of Anchorage made the 7-year-old boy stand in a cold shower when he misbehaved. Both actions were recorded on videotape.

Neither Beagley nor her husband Gary Beagley, an Anchorage police officer, showed any emotion when the seven-person jury announced its decision. The couple walked quickly from the courtroom and down a set of stairs without responding to questions from reporters. Read more;

The FBI has launched a criminal probe into a January incident where Tennessee police stripped a man naked, then kicked and beat him while he lay handcuffed in the snow.

The incident, recorded by a patrol car's dashboard camera, also reveals police repeatedly shocking the man, Darrin T. Ring, of New Johnsonville, Tenn., with a Taser and spraying him with pepper spray.

For nearly ten minutes, the video shows Ring writhing and screaming in pain as a gaggle of officers shout contradictory demands at him.

"If he even flinches, shoot his ass," one officer declares on the tape.

Within minutes of the Casey Anthony verdict, much of America devolved into the mass media equivalent of a mob bearing torches and pitchforks. Twitter lit up with calls for vigilante justice, and proposals that we revoke the Fifth Amendment's protection against double jeopardy (or at least that we revoke it for Casey Anthony). Nancy Grace nearly spit fire, proclaiming, "The devil is dancing tonight." Conservative syndicated columnist Ben Shapiro wants to change the jury system entirely.

Laws named after crime victims and dead people are usually a bad idea. They play more to emotion than reason. But they're disturbingly predictable, especially when they come after the death of a child. So it's really no surprise that activist Michelle Crowder is now pushing "Caylee's Law," a proposed federal bill that would charge parents with a felony if they fail to report a missing child within 24 hours, or if they fail to report the death of a child within an hour.

Johnny and Lisa Bonta, a Native family from the Reno Sparks Indian Colony, became the latest victims of an apparent hate crime on May 24 when they were allegedly attacked at a gas station along I-80 in Fernley, Nevada, a border town between the Fallon and Pyramid Lake Indian reservations.

The fight broke out on the highway after 1 p.m. and while traffic was passing by, no one would stop to help them. Lisa and her daughter, Alyssa, were terrified watching the brutal and bloody fight as her unarmed husband and son-in-law tried to fight off the three young men in their 20s.

“I saw one of them hit my husband in the head with a bat, and the other one was trying to cut off his braid with a knife. Johnny was covered in blood and they just kept hitting him with a crow bar. They even tried to slit his throat,” she added.

“Jacob Cassell had my son-in-law on the ground in a chokehold and Shane was turning blue. My daughter was sobbing ‘they’re killing him’ and somehow she found the strength to hit Jacob in self-defense so he would release Shane.”

It was then, Lisa said, that Cassell turned his anger on her and her daughter, jumping on the hood of their car while swinging a baseball bat and cursing at them.

“I’m a 46 year-old woman with serious health problems, and I tried to defend myself, but he hit me across the lower back with his bat, calling us ‘@!$%#s and river monsters,” said Lisa, who is Anglo. “He pointed at Alyssa and said he would rape her the next time he saw her in Fernley, where she lives.”

(AFP) - Two girls aged 13 and 14 have been jailed in an institution for  juvenile delinquents after confessing to poisoning cookies that killed a boy at  their school in northeastern Brazil, police said Wednesday. The 12-year-old boy died last week in Recife after eating the cookies laced with rat poison.

Forty years ago this week, President Richard Nixon declared illicit drugs "public enemy #1." The ensuing war on drugs has been fought in fits and starts by every ensuing administration and is arguably the most disastrous public policy in American history since chattel slavery and its Jim Crow progeny. This ignominious anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect, to ask ourselves and our leaders some very hard questions, and to demand a new direction in U.S. drug policy once and for all.

Initiated by President Nixon and escalated under Presidents Reagan, Bush, and Clinton, the war on drugs was said to be fought to keep Americans, particularly children, safe from harmful psychoactive substances. After four decades and at least $1 trillion, illicit drugs are actually cheaper, more potent, and widely available to Americans of all ages. Addiction remains persistent among a relatively small percentage of drug users, yet the overwhelming majority of people who want to access drug treatment don't, most often because they simply can't afford it. What's more, overdose deaths as well as HIV and hepatitis C transmissions have all skyrocketed despite recognized, low-cost public health interventions. That's because the drug war focuses on criminal justice -- rather than health-centered -- solutions to problems caused by drugs.

Witnesses say Syvinski tried to force the girl off the bike Sunday and punched her when she refused. They say he then knocked her to the ground and punched her repeatedly after she lost consciousness.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Police in Daytona Beach arrested a man who is  accused of pointing a rifle at a group of children while he threatened to shoot  them.

Two weeks ago, Aron Rottenberg, a Hasidic Jewish man from New Square, New York, was attacked and set on fire.  Since last fall, he and several other men from New Square had been holding prayer services in a nearby nursing home for patients who were unable to attend synagogue.  According to the attacker and other community members, however, praying anywhere but at the community's main synagogue is against the rules and goes against the edict of the Grand Rabbi, David Twersky.  For months, Mr. Rottenberg, his wife and his children endured threats against themselves and attacks against their property, including broken windows, slashed car tires and a smashed windshield.  On May 22, the attacks culminated in arson, when community member Shaul Spitzer set the Rottenberg's home on fire and badly burned Mr. Rottenberg.

The victim has been hospitalized for the past two weeks with burns over 50% of his body, and is expected to remain in the hospital for several more weeks.  To make matters worse, many people in the Hasidic community of New Square are blaming the victim, claiming that the attack was justified because he went against the Rabbi.  Posters have been put up throughout the town blaming the victim and claiming that he deserved the punishment. The FBI is now handling the New Square arson case.  This is a good thing for Mr. Rottenberg, since months of complaints to local police went virtually uninvestigated.  Since Police Commissioner Christopher St. Lawrence was elected because the Hasidic community voted for him as a bloc, it is possible he is more concerned with maintaining their support than in seeking justice for the victim.  The FBI won't be hamstrung by concerns over voting blocs and hopefully won't be intimidated by  accusations of anti-semitism (which have already been leveled against the victim's lawyer, Michael Sussman for taking the case).  This attack and others like it involve religious coercion and terroristic threats and need to be taken very seriously.  If members of New Square's community do not have the freedom to worship as they wish, and if physical violence or murder are considered acceptable punishments in this community for worshiping differently, then nothing short of FBI investigation and hate crime charges will do.  In America, people have the freedom to worship in a synagogue without fear; they must also retain the freedom to worship OUTSIDE OF a synagogue without fear, as well.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — The former Rutgers student accused of secretly spying on his roommate's same-sex romantic encounter was expected to be arraigned Monday, Jay Dow reports.

My first thought-so what?

He is being treated the same (well, he is in a private room at Rikers) as anyone else, hi born or low born, gets treated when accused of a violent crime in the United States.  The key:  being in the United States.  He does not have diplomatic immunity while travelling on a personal agenda-which included this trip.  If he did assault the woman, shame on him and he should be tried and if found guilty, should serve his time in corrective custody. 

If found not guilty, what was he doing in a $3,000 per night hotel room, trying to have sex with a chambermaid?  With that kind of money, aren't there women out there that he could talk into his bed as opposed ot a hard working, likely little more than minimum wage member of the housekeeping staff?  I won't even get into the 'He's married' discussion.

And either way, does this call into question the judgement of someone who is pointed to as possibly the next president of France?  In my opinion, yes.  It says to me that he, like so many other politicians, have no moral compass-think they are untouchable as opposed to the 'common man'. 

And the French are pissy about his treatment?

B.  His treatment is no different that anyone elses

C.  Look to your conscience (I see not one whit of concern from the French for the victim-very classy)

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) – We have new information about a Chesterfield mom accused of brandishing a gun at her kid's bus stop this morning.

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Pinellas County officials have released documents that are expected to be used during the trial in the case of Kenneth Stoltman, the 13-year-old accused of bringing firebombs to school and stabbing a Carwise Middle school resource officer.

Alachua County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 26-year-old Newberry woman Saturday on allegations she scratched and pushed her grandmother to the floor after her grandmother refused to give her money.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputies yesterday punished an "uncooperative" motorist by Tasing him to death. After 43-year-old Allen Kephart was pulled over for allegedly running a stop sign, he got out of his car and failed to show sufficient deference to at least two deputies. He was subdued with a Taser, passed out, and died.

The Supreme Court of the United States just told a sexually assaulted high school girl to shut up and go home.
They didn't say it in those words exactly, but that was the effect of the high court's decision not to hear an appeal by a Texas teen who was kicked off her cheerleading squad because she refused to show her school spirit for the boy she said had raped her.

A west suburban boy was arrested Monday for allegedly devising and circulating a list ranking 50 female Oak Park-River Forest High School girls by their sexual characteristics and alleged sexual behaviors.
“The subject was found to be responsible for an offensive list" that was circulated at the school, Oak Park police Detective Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds said. “Based on the evidence, the juvenile offender was charged with disorderly conduct and referred to (juvenile) court.”
The father of one girl targeted by the list confirmed the arrest. His wife, he told Pioneer Press, was contacted by Oak Park police Tuesday morning.
The list emerged in January and described the girls by explicit, derogatory nicknames and assessed their physical appearance, sexual desirability, sexual activity and other characteristics. It was posted on Facebook and hundreds of copies were printed and distributed at the school during lunch period, before the administration intervened

The accused told police they attacked Stetson Johnson, 18, because he tried to have sex with one of them, according to a police spokesman. Detectives found no evidence to support their claims, he said.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A 5th grade student, who admitted he brought a loaded gun with him on a school bus for protection after getting threatened by two students the day before, was taken into custody Friday morning.

A website enabling teenagers to post insults and racist comments about their peers has prompted an outcry in Germany after 20 youths beat another teen senseless over remarks made on its forums.

DYERSBURG, TN - (WMC-TV) - A 13-year-old Dyersburg Middle School student was arrested Friday after sticking five classmates with a knife.

WINNIPEG - A young Winnipeg woman is speaking out about a gossip website that she says continues to post nasty comments, humiliating rumours and blatant lies.

Fort Myers, Florida (News-Press) -- One of two 10-year-old Rayma C. Page Elementary School students charged with threatening to kill another student with knives told a teacher she had brought the steak knives to school to kill the student, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim, a 14-year-old female, and her 12-year-old sister were walking along South Center Avenue in Somerset when they were confronted by several other kids. Reportedly, the 14-year-old had a run-in earlier that day with one of the girls and had confronted her about some derogatory statements she had heard, police said.

A 15-year-old female apparently took offense to the earlier accusations and pushed the victim into the street where she was "nearly struck by a vehicle," police said.

The 15-year-old then began pulling the victim's hair, causing her to fall to the sidewalk, where she struck her head and twisted her knee, according to reports. Another girl, a 13-year-old female, kicked the victim while she was on the ground.

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) -- A juvenile court judge is considering whether four teens charged in the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl should be tried as adults because of the severity of the crimes.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – A 12-year-old Staten Island boy accused of trying to rip the head scarf off a Muslim classmate during recess has been arrested on hate crimes charges, according to police.

A South Georgia police chief was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated assault.

LOS ANGELES — Anger and shock have penetrated a prosperous, mostly white Central California community where an 11-foot cross was stolen from a church and set on fire next to the home of a black family.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — A man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Columbus has been sentenced to life in prison.

SEMINOLE, Fla. - According to Pinellas County deputies, 16-year-old Nathanial Zeno was plotting to commit a Columbine-type assault on the Seminole High School campus in Florida, where he is a student in the 10th grade.

A Cherokee County teacher who duct-taped an autistic boy to a chair and confined a blind girl under a desk pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and was sentenced to six years of probation and $2,000 in fines.

East Germany, Brandenburg state, Teltow-Flaeming district, Luckenwalde. It's just another sad example about bullying and school violence that can almost drive tears in your eyes.

But, we have to face the evil - and, it should be mandatory for us to do something about it, at least, we ought to comment on this phenomenon and give a helping hand to those who have not been ready to fight bullying.

Mother Ramona (40) has been having her son, Florian (12), a primary school pupil, in hospital for a week because four(!) other school kids kicked him against body and head until he spat blood. A medevac helicopter was called in, and the injured guy was air-lifted to the hospital. There, he has primarily been treated for concussion, but the hospital's medics had to seek specialized advice on the little guy's eyesight, result yet unknown.

Ramona told newspaper Bild that the horrifying event was just an episode of three years of bullying toward her son. The principal, Ms. Evelin Bendel, and her teachers have obviously done nothing so far. When Florian had asked them for help teachers just sent him away, saying "mind your own business, solve problems on your own, and don't be a snitch". Unbelievable. When Florian's mom had filed a complaint against the four bullies the principal turned her down by giving her advice to seek 'professional treatment against Florian's school fear'. What kind of educational professional is this principal? You can only shake your head.

Meanwhile, the Brandenburg education ministry has reacted in this case. The four bullies were swiftly suspended and dispersed to different schools. Investigations have been ongoing.

What message shall this give to us?

Well, help your kid whenever and wherever he/she needs you. File complaints at the school directorate, at police-stations if necessary. Don't hesitate to write a letter to the school's supervision board or directly to the education ministry. Don't let bullies influence your or your kid's life, 'strike back with legal means'. If possible, seek judicial help and fight with a court's injunction against the perpetrators.

The principal and the other teachers should face disciplinary actions, for sure. I cannot and don't want to believe that this behavior of theirs will remain unpunished. File criminal charges additionally against these 'unprofessional' educators at the respective state attorney's office.

These measures shall ensure that, hopefully in future, the bullies will be addressed swiftly and accordingly.

Any teacher has to interfere on the school yard in case of a brawl - because it has been and will be up to them to always protect the physical integrity of the kids. It's their job to take care of the children. Being liberal and cosmopolitan doesn't necessarily mean that school kids have to merely survive in a hostile, Darwinian 'school yard' environment where bullies claim to have the upper hand and teachers mind their own business instead of interfering. This dumb blabbering about 'don't be a snitch' shows premeditated, gross negligence toward helpless kids - in my opinion, it's a pre-stage of failing to render assistance and being accessory to a crime. The teachers who love to look away shall be well aware of that!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is NOT acceptable. If you teachers don't want to fulfill your duties quit your job.

An Augusta-area teenager accused of fatally shooting his friend was denied bond Friday, the Augusta Chronicle reported.

In November last year Beth Harper-King, 12, was walking home from school with her mother when she received six phone calls on her mobile, 10 minutes apart.

The voice was unfamiliar, but each time the message was the same.

"They wanted to rape me, kill me and do the exact same thing to [my] father," Beth said.

Sometimes bullying does not leave an obvious trail, but in Beth's case the boys who repeatedly phoned her had left their number showing.

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- A Washington-area teacher has been charged with choking and hitting students during the school day.

Three students have been arrested following an incident Friday in which a fellow student's hair was set on fire while riding a school bus.

Devin Lewis, 15, told the The Middletown Journal that he was listening to music while on the bus when someone pulled off his hood, and another student held a flame in front of his face.

According to the police report, that's when another male student holding a lighter lit Lewis' hair on fire.

"I felt the heat on the back and somebody blowing my hair," Lewis told CBS Affiliate WKRC.

He reached to the back of his head, and when he looked at his hand, "I just saw ashes."

His hair was singed almost to the scalp.

Other students extinguished the flames.

Police said a 17-year-old junior has been charged with aggravated menacing and assault, and a 15-year-old freshman with aggravated menacing. Another 17-year-old junior has been charged with obstructing official business.

A third teenager has been arrested in the Jan. 1 beating of a pregnant minor whose boyfriend reportedly organized the hit with hopes the girl would miscarry.

McClellan was walking home from a friend's house around 2 a.m. on May 25 when he was approached by the two men near the 7700 block of 14th Avenue Southwest. The two men asked the teen for a light and then assaulted him, according to court doucuments. Over a four-hour period, court documents allege, McClellan was beaten with his own belt, burned with cigarettes, urinated on, punched, kicked, robbed and taunted.
His attackers told him he was targeted because "the white man had kept them down," according to court documents.

We were discussing the current Civil War in this country and how unions seam to create one inside a company.

A union is trying to infiltrate one sector of our company. They tried in the one part of our company, and it did not work. That area is well taken care ouf with benefits and incentives. However, they are now trying another part, a part that has been taking a lot of hits when it comes to cut backs. This may prove to be a tougher fight against for our company.

So we were having an early breakfast and this woman with the maintained liver was telling us how a company developed a civil war between the unionized members and the non-union employees.

“This world has lost its mind, and people are nuts” she exclaims.

I could have hugged her, but instead said

“Hell Yeah!!!! I could drink every night!”

Hell Yeah, the way things are today.

In fact my cousin is treating her sister and I to a wine tasting trip through New York’s Finger Lakes the first weekend in December. She took us last year down the Hudson River.

What a blast.

I still have a few bottles. They were a treasures sight this last summer.

2 months,.............................................................. and 2 police reports.

Walking to work at 5 am and 2 punk teens shot me with a bb gun. They had been hanging out on that steep hill like snipers. Instead of a car, I gave them a better target.

I was angry and shaken, but I was alright. That is until I was on a pay phone in Stewart’s corner store dialing 911. Dabbing the blood from below my elbow, “I was shot…..” was all I got out before tears flooded my reality.

Reality???

Ya know @!$%# the wine, bring on my Captain Morgan, and diet coke. I am diabetic and obese; got to think of the new diet and workout…..

I was @!$%#ing walking to work, and trying to add 35 minutes of walking to my daily workout. When I got to work I would 1^st hit the weights in the company fitness center, and then the showers.

Now I walk 15 minutes on the treadmill and do 15 minutes weights….. after work.

I spent time that day, after I got shot and the police drove me to work, putting pen to paper. The title was “Intent”. I never published it. All I could do that day was wonder what the @!$%# was their “intent”. They did not know I was coming over that hill. Were they out to snipe a car that was driving by at 5 in the morning. It was still August…. Why were they not in bed??????? WHY!!!!!

A little over a month later, after having my eyes dilated that morning, (It had been 3 or 4 years since I had them checked…. Remember, I am diabetic and too busy for myself) I came home and took a 4 hour nap.

I woke up to go to the bathroom. While in there doing my business (number 1), I could hear an argument out side. I heard my brother’s loud angry voice and went down stairs immediately. I found him on the porch yelling and waving his arms about. When he gets going he is like Dennis Kucinich preaching to Congress.

But it wasn’t Congress. It was a bunch of obnoxious kids from the neighborhood. Over the last couple years the neighbor hood has been filled with kids out at all hours of the night….. Unwatched. When I grew up on this same street, my mother would not let us off the porch after 7pm.

One kid in particular among these kids was escalating the tirade and seemed to be leading the group.

• A little history: In the last 5 years:
• Our house vandalized repeatedly,
• Our mother’s car vandalized and eventually someone dented in the side with their car and never reported it to us.
• Fights on the street, adults and kids
• Young kids out until after 10 at night and loud.
• Random fires throughout the Hamilton-Vale area of Schenectady.
• One woman was set on fire…. Just a year ago.

My brother’s paranoia grows and he was yelling at these rude children; calling them “terrorist”.

And they were shouting back. The one, I believe to be around 14, was egging him on. Escalating.

When the hell did children become so rude? Not to their own parents, but to total strangers. Adults.

Now truthfully, Dude (who has been out of work for 9 damn years) can go on and on about terrorism in the neighborhood, but these kids were getting out of control.

If a neighbor told me to get out of his yard, or off his car (and I never would be that friggen disrespectful), I would not talk back. I would just go and be done with it.

But this “kid” was digging in his heals.

My thoughts in the moments leading to the 2^nd police report this summer was “Where are all your parents?”

He was yelling and the other kids were saying “get your mom on him”, him being my brother.

Adults!!!! “Yes” I said, “Please someone get some parents over here now”

Still this group of kids, a la “Lord of the Flies” was still escalating the volume along with the rhetoric via my brother.

Finally a adult related to one or more of these kids came along.

Finally…….

Well instead of any reason, she was looking around at anything she could find, saying ….

“You hit my son, you hit my son…..”

I am trying to get her attention and telling her no one struck her son.

Her son was saying “How do you know, you were not out here before?”

True that, but my brother (yes paranoid and loud) does not physically assault kids. He does not get violent with anyone unless they are with him first.

In a matter of seconds, the teenager changes his dialog to “he swung at me and swore at me”

And his mother still searching for a weapon (Yes I knew she was thinking of violence), still not hearing us changed her chanting to “You swung at my son, you swore at my son”

This can not be happening is all I am trying to grasp. This just can not be real. I was @!$%#ing sleeping peacefully 15 minutes ago. What the @!$%# happened?

Well she found a metal pipe with a @!$%#ty little piece of metal at the end. Dude referred to it as a “@!$%# hoe”. She starts up the steps to OUR HOME and swings at both of us. She strikes me several times across my left arm and side.

The first blow was intense and painful enough to push me into motion. There was no other pain until after. I just moved and absorbed the blows and many of the details. Yet with the adrenaline and the attack I was unaware for over 12 hours that there were blows to my left side, just below my breast. That was when I felt the scabs and lifted my shirt and looked in the mirror to find bruises all down my kidney area.

I did not calculate all the damage at the time. I was blocking my brother. Not from him getting hit, but from his retaliation on them. I was blocking him and yelling for someone to call the police.

After watching his mother assaulting me, this “kid” climbed OUR PORCH and started closed fist punching my brother to the left temple.

Ok, all hell could have broken loose. He was already trying to stop this woman from beating on me, but this SON OF A BITCH was punching him. As my brother described later “like a man”. I found out later the kid is in football. You know a team leader type.

I continued to block Dude and with my right side, push him into my hallway up the stairs. I did not want him retaliating. It was not for the sake of the little prick and his crazy ass mother, but for my brother.

When the police arrive, it does not matter who started what.

On one side you have my brother a 41 year old man at 5’8” and approximately 190 lbs. On the other you have a woman and a 14 year old. I don’t care what she has in her hands, she would be hurting. If he struck that kid, he would be in the hospital.

And as I said, if that happened all hell would break loose. I think other adults would finally come round again to defend the poor bitch and her kid.

Do I really need to explain further?

So I took the beating to my left side from her, and my right side from the door frame trying to get him inside the door. You know that little @!$%# followed us into the door landing several blows to my brother’s skull.

I managed to get my brother’s attention by yelling at him to run up the stairs and call the police. “I want that bitch in jail and her son!”

• Dude’s head hurt for 3 days after that.
• My left arm was bruised and swelling with intense red marks from above my elbow to my wrist. My thumb was swollen and I could not move it.
• His mother claims that her son is not only trying out for football again, but is an honor student
• The police talked to the boy and mom 1^st.
• We were told to shut up several times as the police reiterated their description of the “events”. They would not let us speak for several minutes.
• I pointed to my arm several times.
• The police said “they claim you struck the boy in the stomach."
• We were never shown any bruises on the “kid”
• Finally and trying to avoid too much vulgarity, I told Dude to “shut up and smoke” I raised my left bruised arm and said “Now can I speak and clear up her bull@!$%# story?”

The street became quiet enough for everyone to hear me. I laid it out plain and in short sentences:

1. This is OUR PORCH
2. There were at least 20 children without any parents around when I got down here.
3. NO Child was struck, if so where are their bruises?

Cop: “But he claims he was struck in the stomach”

Me: “Where are his bruises?”

Cop: “Well he says there is a mark on his shirt or stomach” (truthfully when I was pushing Dude back, either one of us could have tried pushing him away with our feet)

Me: “Well here is mine” Showing him my entire arm “She came up my stairs striking me with a metal pipe she found on the ground while I was trying to talk to her.”

I continued my account of the “events”.

1. I asked the group of kids for a parent when all of them were surrounding the porch and we never left the porch. In order to attach the kids we would have to of gone off of it.
2. The mother of the boy never tried to talk with us, she never made eye contact with me, and she never asked us if we hit him….. She just began looking for a weapon.
3. The boy changed his story already while she was searching
4. Before the boy went for his mom, there was another woman from the street trying to talk reason to the whole group but especially to this boy. She warned him “do you want your mom to go to jail, don’t drag her into this”
5. That “kid “ came up onto our porch swing full blows to my brother after watching his mother attack me.

My brother showed the police his blackened eye and brow area. Another cop came over from the house across the street. Carmen, our neighbor also called 911.

I showed him my arm again, and said “where are their bruises, here are mine? They came up onto OUR PORCH and attacked us/”

Cop: “Do you need an ambulance? Do you want to press charges?”

Me: “Yes, I want her arrested.”

He nodded to another cop and he walked over to her and began reading her “Her Rights”.

She: “But I did not do anything” as she was looking over at me.

I looked her right back in her eye. I never shed a tear. It was the first time I left the porch since that morning.

The world has gone crazy.....

Yes a glass of wine would be alright.

A few closing notes:

• It is procedure to go the ER via an ambulance even from the police station.
• It is hard to pull a large body into an ambulance with short, stubby legs and one arm.
• I was at the ER until just before midnight, and the “event” took place at 6:40pm
• When my brother called 911 he had to argue with them to get them to come. Telling them over and over again, it is a group of kids and we were attacked on our porch. It took the 2^nd call from across the street to get them to come. They are “just kids” after all.
• The woman who assaulted me came over the next day.
• She started with “I don’t know if you are a mother, but when my son says someone hit him….”
• Her story changed again. She tried saying, she hit me because she saw me dragging her son into our hallway. Really! I put it to her plainly.

“You are saying a 41 year old man and a 43 year old woman was trying to drag your son into their home? That is the description of kidnapping at the very least and possible pedophilia. I would fight a pedophile, not become one.” And she hit me before we backed up into the house.

• She tried saying she was dropping the charges against my brother because “she does not have time for this as she is trying to become a nurse and is going to school and raise 6 kids” Jesus wept!
• I knew most of this because…..
• Police reports come with carbon copy given to the “victim”, complete with the assailants name, phone, address, social security number, place of employment, and the school she was going to.
• No one arrested my brother that night or the next day….. She was lying again. She was trying to get me to drop the charges against her with a bull @!$%# story and a vague threat of charging my brother.
• I tried. I could not because she was already arrested and it was then in the hands of the district attorney. I spoke with an assistant and gave her the complete skinny on the events of that night and the next day. She said “that is witness tampering” She told me I could not drop the charges and all I could do was say; I was seeking no further action. I said that I would not be. I was told her court date.

I wish I could make y’all understand why I did not take any further action. I am not some scared “victim”. I just want peace.

• She still lives a block away, her court date came and went. I did not check what her sentence was. I don’t care. We are at peace. I have seen her a couple times.
• I had 5 x-rays of my wrist and 3 of my thumb.
• Bruised was the diagnosis and I was sent home with an ace bandage and instructions on treatment.
• I got the bill a week ago. My insurance covered 90 % of the bill. I have $150.00 co-pay for hospitals.
• Total cost was over a grand.
• The 2^nd assault on me took place September 13^th. At the beginning of what was to be my vacation.
• When I got to work the following week, my arm was blackened. I told the story several times. They think I am insane for staying there. Here.
• You know when I told the police, as I was getting into their car for the station, about the 1^st assault and all the vandalism in the area. They suggested I move. Really!
• My next real vacation is December 3^rd, in the Finger Lakes. Wine tasting.

It is now November 11^th. I am drinking diet cola and water. I would like it to be wine, but I must take my Metformin, as my sugar is high today. Wine will wait.

The election is finally over.

The holidays are coming.

I may get several more bottles for my collection.

Fox 2 is reporting that a 14-year-old student at Huron High School in New Boston has committed suicide after claiming she was raped by an upper classman.

Winter Haven, Florida -- A newspaper is reporting a stabbing that has happened at Winter Haven High School Monday morning.

A 56-year-old carpenter went to jail after his 81-year-old mother told Gainesville police he intentionally shoved or bumped her three times in an argument over a walking stick.
